An appeal to all concerned
It is known to all that Garhbeta High School is established on the 2nd March, 1888. The School has been catering to the educational need of a number of students from the various places of the District. The students from this School appeared at the Entrance Examination from 1890 to 1909 under Calcutta University. Subsequently they appeared at the Matriculation Examination and School Final Examination before the introduction of Higher Secondary Course in West Bengal. The School was upgraded as a XI – Class School in the year 1957 and Sri Arun Kumar Mukherjee, an Ex-student of this School, stood first in order of merit in the H. S. Examination, 1960 in the Humanities Stream. Sri Asish Das Gupta, a regular student of this School, secured the 11th position in the H. S. Examination (Science Stream) in 1964. The results of the School in the Madhyamik Pariksha (Secondary Examination) have been satisfactory and one student has secured star-marks in the Madhyamik Pariksha (Secondary Examination) 1983. A group of young and energetic Assistant Teachers joined the School in 1997 and the School was upgraded to H. S. General Stream (X+2) in 1998. From then the School is taking a leading role to impart proper education and enrich the cultural, moral and spiritual development among the students. Tridin Bej, Sourav Hazra, Atanu Singharoy, Niloy Das, Sibaram Ruidas (MP – 2009) Supratim Manna (H.S. 2011) etc are some of the remarkable ex-students of recent times. The tenure of Beharilal Chakraborty, Ex-HM is called the Golden Time of Garhbeta High School. Sri Hirendranath Sar Ex-HM was manifesting the inner qualities of the pupils in all respects. His period (05.01.2006 to 31.03.2010 may be called the Platinum Period of Garhbeta High School. The School is upgraded and uplifted in several wings (SC & ST Hostel, Computer Literacy Project, National Service Scheme in H.S. Section, Vocational Stream Courses X+2 Level, ICT@School Project) The National Service Scheme was introduced in H.S. Section in the session – 2004-2005 to enable the students "not for me but for you" and Mr Haradhan Ruhidas acted as Programme Officer upto October – 2008. But he has been deposed by the the-then political party. The ICT@School Project was introduced in 2008. Everyone can find the devotion of someone in the introduction of Vocational Stream Courses. To develop the cultural, moral and spiritual development the School organized several cultural programmes and activities. Several subjects have been introduced in H. S. Section to avail Higher Education by the students in future. Only five posts are sanctioned in the H. S. Section. We require more Building Grants, Maintenance Grants and TLM Grants to provide proper and comfortable accommodation and education to the students in this 125th Anniversary of the School.
